Well, a reader was kind enough to offer me a Gmail invite gratuitously:

Want a gmail invite? I think I’ve got one left and I’d much rather give it to someone who cares about web standards (yay) than compromise what I think is my moral integrity by whoring out something I got for free in the first place.

You can’t deny there is some truth in the bit about “whoring out” Gmail invites that seem to have been happening of late heh (heard of Gmail Swap?). Well, not everyone is whoring out their invites - some of them go to a good cause (like donations to charity or non-profit organizations).

Anyway, I’d like to thank Luke for his kind gesture. Luke wrote about his Gmail invites as such:

I’ve got 2 invites left and although free stuff (or auctioning it off for cash through ebay) is tempting, it doesn’t sit right with me morally, ethically, or somethin’.

I had to buy mine ($20) a while back, but I decided that I wasn’t going to sell or advertise my invites. I have liked sending invites out to friends that want one and don’t have one, etc. and have encouraged them to continue the giving, instead of selling their invites (which are only pulling in a few bucks now, anyway).

There’s no regular schedule of gmail invites. The last 3 invites I got were the first 3 I got since I joined gmail (a couple months ago). And as soon as I had finished those 3, I just got another 3. Wonder what google is thinking…Trying to quash Yahoo? Need to test how it scales? No idea…

I just got mine the other day. Bought it for $7.50. Wasn’t going to but I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. :)

And yet there is still a small minority without Gmail accounts. Google needs to sort itself out and start allowing people to register accounts, instead of leaving people like *me* in the dark.

What is all the fuss about G-mail anyhow? I am curious about it and I will admit that I found your blog by googling for G-mail invites. Does the idea of random strangers coming to your blog unnerve you? I’ll make this short. If you would happen to have an extra invite, I would be eternally grateful. Shameless begging I know, but thanks anyhow.

Gmail. Hmmmmmm.I’ve been using this googlidian@yahoo.com since years. Now I still dont have a gmail account. How unfortunate can anybody get. All brothers, sisters, friends and kind guys out there, please, please extend an invite to me. It would be of utmost help and kindest gesture.

I request you to please send me a gmail invite. I am into web programming and animations and am very enthusiastic about new developments and improvements to the world wide web. I have been trying to get one account from the time that gmail was launched but haven’t been able. I would appreciate if you could send me one as that would help me in the sort of work I do (animations and 3d modelling).

I have been looking for an invite for a very long time now. I was just loging onto msn messenger and I couldn’t believe that my friend had one, but when I went to gmail.com. And to my disappionment they haven’t pulisized it…
More or less I do some web designing, programming, and I enjoy helping my friends with their web sites.
So if anyone could please send me a gmail invite it would be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys!
I was looking for a GMAIL invite myself. Does anyone have any left?
There a few reasons as to why i want it. Apart from the 1GB hype [the size which you can get even at http://www.rediff.com
There have been reports that GMAIL doesnt load too fast on some browsers, especially IE6. Apparently the speed is better on Mozilla Firefox.

Also, some times the login page doesnt even pop up for some. I just wanted to know how and why all this happens. To do that i need an account to test different platforms of Browsers etc.

What is the attachment size limit? i want to know because i can’t send important stuff in one piece.

I would appreciate an invite to GMail. I am a teacher at the local High School. My 2MB mailbox at hotmail is too small for attachments when kids send graphic design work to my mailbox. If someone can send an invite, please use yevk@hotmail.com.
