This site is currently hosted on a Slicehost VPS running on Ubuntu Linux. Nginx serves up the webpages which are often run through PHP 5.x and extract the requisite data bits from a MySQL 5.x database. All my blogging happens smoothly because of WordPress, my blogging software of choice since switching from Movable Type.

Why the name “redemption” then?
Hmm, I’m a big fan of The Shawshank Redemption, and I happened to be playing Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption at around the same time. So, together with the fact that I’m horrible at coming up with names (hey, I just named my blog “redemption in a blog”), I settled on “redemption”. It wasn’t a likely nick someone would use so I don’t have problems with duplicate user IDs signing up for stuff with it.
And your real name is “Cheah Chu Yeow” you say?
Why yes it is! Given name’s “Chu Yeow”, surname’s (that’s the equivalent of a last name, although it really comes first!) “Cheah”. So don’t call me “Mr. Yeow” or “Cheah” - they both sound awkward. Call me “Chu Yeow”, or just “Chu”.
So why is it called “redemption in a blog”?
Well, I use to call myself “redemption” on discussion forums and for signing up for things and what not. I was coming up with a name for this weblog, and for some inexplicable reason I thought the play of the words “redemption in a blog” was a really bright idea. So there you have it.
