After seeing this amusingly-named SSID, I thought it’d be fun to post the SSID of my wireless network at home:

The name is completely not my idea so I claim no credit – I stole it from my girlfriend’s brother, who conceived the SSID of “AssAssID”.
What’s your SSID and have you seen any amusing ones? Or is yours one of the bajillion ‘linksys’ or ‘DLINK’ SSIDs in existence?

My old house was ‘wibblenet’, my parents’ house is ‘bluelagoon’ and my current house is ‘GreenOasis’. No real reason for them other than having something different to ‘NETGEAR’. You know, just in case someone finds a major flaw in Netgear routers.
wibblenet and bluelagoon both use WPA, but I’m using WPA2 on BlueLagoon since all the computers that use it now support WPA2. Not that I imagine my neighbours will know how to defeat WPA encryption but it’s reassuring to be safe.

I change mine occasionally when I find something amusing. This is going in the queue. Currently, my ssid is “broken.”

One of my access points is named ‘tube_access’ and right now the other is named ‘intertubes’. I occasionally change the names of my access points when something better comes to mind.

At home, my SSID is ArpaNet.
At work, we have several other Access Points around us, with names such as “youneedbettersecurity” and “INTERNETS THROUGH THE AIR”

my first one was “chimney house” due to the fact that the front door was right in the middle of the chimney. my second one was “crooked house” on account of the fact that the house was so crooked they put padding in only half the carpet to try to even it out. my current one is “Blowie Depot” because every one in my house likes to give blowjobs.

Mine is ‘The AllSpark.’
I like ‘broken.’ Very clever.

Over for dinner at a couple’s house one night, I couldn’t help but notice their midwest, farm-y decor. Meanwhile, my PDA couldn’t help but notice their unsecured “linksys” router.
When I left, it was broadcasting its unsecured self to the world as “MoreCowbell.”
