Mozilla Update website gets a facelift

Mozilla Update has gone through a facelift and now looks much better than before (and also, more importantly, it now looks and feels like the main mozilla.org site).

I haven’t seen any announcement on this yet on mozilla.org nor on MozillaZine

New Mozilla Update Design
Mozilla delivers us an early Christmas present, a redesign of the Mozilla Update website, which has previously been under criticism. This new design brings it up to the style of the current Mozilla.org website, so looks very nice. Cheah Chu Yeow of red…

A nice thing is that the ratings and comments are reset. So now Launchy will have a chance to be the highest rating extension! :-)

Unfortunately it seems that they’ve done too much to make the site conform with the main site. They replaced the rating star images with plain text that reads “5 stars.” It just seems like the overall usability of the site has gone down. Hopefully this can be improved soon.

Oh god, finally. I never understood why that site had to be so ugly. Thanks for the heads-up!

Some designers forget that images are part of the standard. Hope they put the stars back!

Other than that it looks awsome.

Unfortunately we had to disable a few things while issues are ironed out. Of course it being the holidays, it makes it harder to get a hold of those necessary.

The beta site has been available for quite a while, so the new look shouldn’t be a surprise.

I hope that Mycroft is next in line for a re-design. The current design is awful, which is a pity because being able to customise the search toolbar is one of Firefox’s great features.

Most of the problems with the new look Mozilla Update are petty politics. I see interesting times ahead.
