This month, I have been hit by around 8000 referral hits by porn sites trying to increase their google ranking. I've started using .htaccess to block these hits and just over 5000 of the above number were blocked. However, the over 3000 that hit me before I noticed cost me over 3.5GB's of bandwidth. I found out why and fixed the page that was being sent for each referral hit. Still... I'm not saying your site isn't noteworthy and should have the triffic, I'm just saying you may want to make sure you are not sending out lots of bytes of data to those scummy referral spammers when they are just using bots to do their dirty work anyway. I write two extensions for Firefox (User Agent Switcher and Web Developer) and nearly all of my traffic is related to that. This is the first month that I have run out of bandwidth (I'm currently upgrading my account) so this is a good sign that Firefox is getting more and more popular.
