But for those who want to see the game running in all its glory, be prepared to spec up to around a 2.4 GHz machine, with 512MB RAM, Windows 2000/XP and a DirectX 9 capable graphics card.

Looks like I don’t have to upgrade (again) for Half Life 2.

How about running UT2004 at 1920×1440 resolution with all settings set to high still getting around 40-50 fps. sounds great but image quality looks same as 16×12.

You guys need to build new PC really fast. and all of you need to get laid too!!

i have a p4 1.3 ghz 128mb rd ram and GeforceFx5200 256mb 250/400 overcloked to 300/500 with stock cooling, and i can play ut2004 @ 1280×1024 all maxed settings with 2x anti alisasing and host a server with 30 people and myself palying , and without trillinear filtering i get no lag whatsoever..
if my crapy computer can play ut that well, than i cant wait to get my 3 ghz p4 HT 1mb cache and install my 512mb ram, but for now i hope my curent rig can run half life 2 leak, which will be finished in about 5 minutes.
btw i also run Farcry at some low/some medium settings at 1024×768 with high anti aliasing and get 22-40 fps outside and 50-85 fps inside.

i can run it i have already played it leaked wit 70 fps at 1024 beautifuly… and ran doom 3 but the leak is real fucked up. but i guess i wont be upgrading anything…

Same here, my computer occasionally gets sluggish with half-life 1. ive had this computer for years i tell u. ive upgraded a bit over the years but i think enough is enough. time to sell the old dog and invest in a new one. look at these specs:

Pentium III – 755mhz (GIGANTIC FAILED)
192 mb Memory (FAILED)
Windows 98 (Most Likely FAILED)
Ati RAGE 128 – Hehehe, direct x 6/7 days(HUGE FAIL)

How much did they change from the leak to production?

I can run the HL2 leak pretty good at 800×600:
Athlon 1.4 (FAIL)
512MB (check)
WindowsXP (Duh ;) )
Geforce2 GTS (Big FAIL)

The Wolf: OUCH – I can run UT2004 at 1024×768 with only minor glitches (same ones I get @ 800×600) – Maybe you should look at system config issues ;)

Hah! Yes, you may have that all but honestly that’s more like the minimum requirements. Probably have to run at 800*600 if you have a low ends DX9 card. Even with a 9600 Pro.

Hmmm..yes i agree with “white rabbit” you guys need to get laid!!..anyways i got a p4 3.2ghz(1mb cache) with ht technology, 1gb of ddr ram (dual channel) 256ddr gforce 5700q with great overclocking power..the damn thing has 2 fans!! and a copper heat sink! i also got 2 120gb hd with 8mb cache, audiogy sound card, 18inc lcd screen, anyways i can run anything out there..i run doom 3 on ultra with no gilcthes at 1280X1024 and thats without overclocking my card. Oh yea i also have a 12 speaker set up with 2 subs :()

It runs perfectly on doom 3 between 20-30 fps High quality and 1024*768.
It also runs Far cry but not smoothly in ultra quality.

The card is low-end DX9 …so i might juss run the game using the DX8 shaders…..Thing is 5600 was designed for dx9 shaders …so if i wanna play with DX8 shaders…i would get better performance with an old Gforce4 4600 (which you can get for like $40)..major bummer

40 to 60 FPS (FIGHT/NORMAL) and HIGH details at 1024×768 with crazy 25 to 35 FPS.
It’s a bit crazy that Half-Life 2 has a minimum of 700 MHz P3 processor 128 MB RAM and a 64 MB directx 6 or 7 card.I even got some trailers but what i see from them is that it’s going to run at my card on maximum details without any problems.I’m yust sorry that DooM 3 doesn’t run with directx 9 technology so that i could see all of it’s glorry.I hope HL2 will…

i have doom 3 and it runs on full graphix, but its get glitchy if i put Antisoptric Filtering even on X6
Far-Cry runs on Full as well but again slows down if Antisoptric Filtering on maximum.

it runs UT2004 at 110 FPS on 1024×768 and all the settings on full,
and it runs Farcry +- 60FPS on 1024×768 with all the settings on full,

Do you guys think it will run HL2 and how many FPS ??

I have a coppermine @ 733 overclockable to 800+ so BIG pass on the minimum specs there.
I have 192 MB or PC 100 RAM so I’m way over the hill there
And I got a Kyro Hercules 32 MB graphics card, looks like I’m on par…
I’m gonna buy this game to give me the incentive to purchase a fucking ripper of a box, might even try building one myself, anyone got ideas for a box that will run HL2 beautifully, I don’t need a hard drive or case but everything else has to go.

hopefully i can run it with everything more or less cranked up. I heard about a month ago about problems they were having running the game on the nvidia FX cards. The article i read said that the frame rate dropped down extremely low, but i guess obviously they have fixed these problems.

it can run ut 2004 1024×768 ok in avarage graphics, but i think it will die trying to do hl2, am i right…?

Ok im hoping someone comes here who has tried this game ( Counter Strike source) ( or half life 2 seeing Source is a mod for it ) i am wondering the specs this pc im building is going to get i have a graphics card already

Well i was reading over the post and i cant seem to find 1 person helping anyone out just another perosn asks a question and another question:P so here is my 2 cents hoping someone might give theres
From my experince i saw the game at my friends house so anyone Runing a ATI 9600 pro card a AMD XP CPU (not Barton) and 512 ram are not going to have perfectly smooth frame rates im guessing from what i saw 20-60 :P

I cant ge my half life running on my comp.. all i can do is play counter strike (#1) and nothing else….when i try to play deathmatch or source it tells me that it could not read the memory…does anyone know why tis is happening?!?!?!

for a start, you havent got enough RAM, it may say 256mb on the back of the box, but your’re only gonna have about 128mb free for running games, also, your onboard graphics aren’t doing you any favours.

(Sorry for degrading comment)

Oh btw i upgraded to an X800 Pro and it runs 56.8 fps on video stress test

No problems whatsoever, excellent performance at high settings, First 3 secs of new area slightly jerky, after that 100% smooth.

I’ve got Pentium III 1.1GHz, PC-100 SDRAM 192MB, 80GB 7200/8Mb, GeForce FX 5200 128/64 bit PCI (I have no AGP ports). My PC is too old….I know….but I hope that it will work at least on minimum/medium settings.

And I would like to say that asking someone if it’s gonna work on P4 with 1GB RAM is stupid !. People stop showing off !.
